Update (03/16/15): OVAs, Movies, Manga/Doujinshi, etc.

This post will detail (almost) our future projects and address some few issues.

As you noticed, we added and removed some pages and I hope these changes will make Lazy Lily less messy. We renamed DDL to Library and it will contain download links to our past and current projects. Simply click on the thumbnails and it will take you to the appropriate MEGA links. The Library is still not complete and some thumbnails are not click-able, so please bear with us for a while.

We also added an oddly-named page called Before we commit sudoku… and it is a pretty straight-forward page once you check it out. Lazy Lily is heavily dependent on the group founder SHiN and unless there is someone crazy enough to be my successor, Lazy Lily will cease to exist in the far future. Before that happens, we, or rather, I, SHiN, made a checklist on things we need to do. Once we have accomplished those, I will die happy, and Lazy Lily will pass away knowing that she contributed something to the community. Lazy Lily is seven years old! It is time to think of her future and give a lasting impression! Did that make sense at all?

We will be adding possible two new pages soon and one of them will be dedicated to doujinshi translations, art books, and the like.

Yuru Yuri OVA is still missing DDL links and the reason for that is we are currently patching the 1080p and 720p versions. The 1080p version is missing the font for the intro scene, there is a small typesetting clipping issue, there are some minor typos that need fixing and the script suffers from two types of apostrophes. Once we fixed these issues, we will upload the updated subs for DDL. Current owners of the first versions will get an optional patch file for them to use and avoid re-downloading the same video files. We are pretty busy at the moment and we hope we will provide the fixes soon.

I will say this again — Lazy Lily is currently shifting its focus on OVAs, ONAs, and movies. We are very slow and we cannot compete with CR, so we thought this is a good idea. Our current problem is we have to find a catalog of anime movies and check out which one that are easy to acquire and were ignored by fansub groups.

Nothing new on this department other than we are still looking for additional cleaners, typesetters and a translator for the Sakura Trick manga. Lazy Lily will still continue translating the Aikatsu! doujins and we will acquire more in the future. We aim to be the number one group for Aikatsu! yuri doujinshi translations.

Lazy Lily is doing this for free, but there will be a time that we may need some support. We have a proxy or a buyfag in Japan and he will be going to an Aikatsu!-only event this August to acquire the Double Bind Trilogy (see Double Bind Dream here), additional yuri doujinshi and art books. We’re currently trying to raise at least 250 USD and part of it will go to his hazard pay and travel expenses. We can afford the money, but it would be nice people chip in and lessen the burden.

I guess that is it. If you have any questions, concerns or anything, please leave a comment below. I will try to reply to you as soon as I can. This is going to be a busy year and I hope this very small and unknown group will pull through.

Our current list of projects for 2015:

— Haiyore! Nyaruko-san OVA 3
— Aikatsu! Movie
— Full Moon wo Sagashite
— Yuru Yuri S3
— Every Aikatsu! doujinshi we currently posses (list soon)

You should really watch Full Moon wo Sagashite

Full Moon - Mitsuki

I always treated headphones as disposable products. If a pair sounds okay, comfortable, I can plug on my computer and cheap, I’ll buy it. If either speaker died, I toss it to the trash can and get another cheap one. Not too long ago I bought a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 monitor headphones and these are currently the most expensive set of cans I have purchased. A friend congratulated me for owning “real” headphones and at first I didn’t know what he meant. But after listening to my favorite songs, the difference is like night and day — Instruments are more defined, I heard sounds that I didn’t notice before, and the songs sound infinitely better. I spent a lot of money, but it was all worth it. One of the best purchases I made.

Why am I talking about the M50s? I have yet to use it to listen to the full version of a song. A song that is found in Full Moon wo Sagashite. A song that I consider the most beautiful song I have ever heard. I burst into tears just by listening to the short version of the song and I refuse to listen to the full version until Lazy Lily managed to fansub all 50 episodes. If you listen to the song now, it may not give the same impact because the song shines when you hear it in one of the most emotional scene in the anime. I will not tell you what the song is, but you’ll know the song as soon as you hear it.

Now then…

Someone told me that I’m only watching idol shows like Love Live! and Aikatsu! because it’s the current fad, and I’m just the typical weeb eating up what’s currently popular in Japan. Unfortunately for him, he was wrong. My second most favorite anime of all time is an idol show, and I watched Full Moon wo Sagashite for more than a decade now.

What is this Full Moon? What made it so special for me?

Full Moon wo Sagashite or Searching for the Full Moon is a story of a 12 year old girl named Kouya Mitsuki who dreams in becoming a singer. Unfortunately for Mitsuki, she is suffering from a throat cancer in her throat. The doctors gave her two options: remove the tumor through surgery to save her life, but at the cost of losing her voice or ignore the tumor, keep her voice and let the tumor eat her life away. Refusing to lose her voice, two soul reapers or the shinigami appeared to take her life. Takuto, one of the shinigami, took pity of Mitsuki and gave her some of his shinigami powers to temporarily transform her sickly 12 year old body into a healthy teenage body. Mitsuki then uses this new form to enter an audition that she eventually got accepted. Mitsuki’s journey begins.

At first glace Full Moon is a low budget kids show with talking animals and cute character designs, but the main story is deceptively mature. The first half of the show is mainly about Mitsuki doing her idol activities and contain some quirky episodes like the shinigami can’t enter Mitsuki’s home because the house maid unwittingly placed an enchanted rock that stops spirits from entering. The bulk of the main story starts at the second half and that’s where Full Moon turns from a quirky kids show into a mature, emotional roller coaster ride. I was crying like a little girl and the last episode was so good, it left me speechless. I fucking love Full Moon.

Now Full Moon isn’t perfect. If you compare this show to other idol shows like Aikatsu!, Full Moon is produced with a low budget, no CG dance scenes, acting is iffy sometimes, the art and animation tend to be poor in quality, and the song selections are few. But… Who cares? Full Moon excels in the story, characters, and how deceptively mature it is. The songs are few, yes, but these are very high quality songs sung by someone with an actual human voice. Tired of chipmunks singing your animu songs? You’ll fit right in.

Full Moon wo Sagashite is, again, one of the best anime I have ever seen and I want you guys to experience this great anime.

I hope this little write-up convinced you to try out Full Moon and follow Lazy Lily as we fansub one of the most beautiful anime ever.

You can also check out our old SHiN-gx release of episode one just to get you the idea on what Full Moon is like.

New Polls and Future Projects

I’ve put up several polls and think of them as a way for Lazy Lily to know your opinions about the projects we listed. Do you really want us to do X project or you prefer we ditch the idea because some other group can do a better job?

Full Moon wo Sagashite — This project has been in moth balls for quite some time now, but we’re certain 2015 is the best time for us to really work on it. In case you didn’t know, there are already several groups that are working on Full Moon, so in order for Lazy Lily to stand out, we’re going to translate from scratch. As in Lazy Lily will make original translations for Full Moon. The probable downside of this is subs may take longer to finish whereas re-editing/re-QC’ing the afk subs is much quicker since everything were already timed and, well, translated. You want original subs or prefer we re-edit the afk subs? Please cast your votes.

Aikatsu! The Movie — I want to make this very clear, there is only ONE REASON why Lazy Lily is fansubbing the movie: I, SHiN, would love to experience working with Kiriya Aoi. That’s it. That’s the honest truth. I just want to fansub something with Aoi in it. And so that I can die as a happy individual. Are we capable of fansubbing an idol show of this caliber? Well, the answer is “yes” and we will prove it by showing you how we are going to handle Full Moon wo Sagashite, a 50 episode idol show. Or you can check our recent work and see how good we are. And besides, no group has exclusive rights to fansub any show. It’s a free-for-all. Do you want to see us translate the movie? Yes? No? Please cast your votes.

Hanayamata BD rip version — As you know, we didn’t finish Hanayamata and the plan was to continue on using the Blu-ray rips. Do you want us to finish Hanayamata or you want us to drop it and do something else? Please cast your votes.

Sakura Trick BD rip version — I have all episodes encoded, but the scripts needs re-checking and fix some typesetting errors or update some of them. Do you want us to release a BD version of Sakura Trick or you want us to focus more on the Sakura Trick manga instead? Please cast your votes.

Kiriya Aoi, the most beautiful idol in Aikatsu! — Is Aoi the most beautiful? Yes? Yes? Or Yes? Please cast your votes.

We will keep the polls up for 2-3 months to get as many votes as possible.

Project Mangetsu — Status

Full Moon VOBs

Still wondering what’s happening to Project Mangetsu?

Episodes 1-4 are already encoded and I will continue encoding the episodes until episode 24. Why am I stopping at episode 24? Because I only acquired 24 episodes out of 50. The torrent I used is dead and, well, I’m still looking. Darn it… I should have downloaded everything before the torrent died.

I cannot say when we’ll release the new episodes, but I’m writing this to let you guys know that the project is still alive. We have nothing to fansub this season, so I’m hoping Project Mangetsu will move by a few inches.

Project Mangetsu

Kouyama MitsukiDo you still remember that bit I said SHiN-gx Fansubs is going to remaster Full Moon wo Sagashite? I mean, remaster ALL of it? If you did, well, yeah, that was a failure mainly because of uh… Uh… I got lazy. I’m making this post because we are still doing the darn thing.

What is Full Moon wo Sagashite?

12-year-old orphan Mitsuki Kouyama is a talented singer who dreams of becoming a singer, but she is afflicted with sarcoma, which is curable only through a surgery that could ruin her vocal cords, and destroy her ability to sing. The tumor in her throat already affects her ability to breathe well and sing loudly. Her grandmother also hates music and is completely opposed to Mitsuki’s wish to audition. Mitsuki’s dreams seem impossible to achieve, until one day she is visited by two shinigami, whom only she could see. The shinigami, Takuto and Meroko, inadvertently tip Mitsuki off that she has only one year left to live.

I really love this show. Heck, it’s one of my all-time favorite shows. Sure, the first half is generic, the VA for Mitsuki is a newbie and the songs got a little repetitive, but once you get past those and got to know more of the characters, the second half is a damn good roller coaster ride. It’s very emotionally packed for a kids’ show and I never cried in a kids’ show since The Story of Perrine. Yes, I am that old. The music is very, very good as well. MYCO, your songs are… are.. Don’t make me listen to this song again. The memories… The tears… ;_;

Current Situation

We have the first few episodes and we have to encode them into the recent 10-bit format. My biggest problem right now is handling the DVD sources. You see, the quality of the files I have are horrible. There are like a ton of broken/bad frames and fixing them is pretty annoying. They are doable, but there are some scenes that are impossible to fix because they have no duplicate good frames for me to use. Below screen shot is an example of a bad frame with no good duplicate.

Full Moon wo Sagashite - 01
I’m not sure if the ISOs I got were badly ripped or the original source is poor in quality, so if you happen to have a copy of the DVDs, please let me know. If the ISOs were badly made, then we either look for a different source or purchase the DVD boxset ourselves. You can help lighten the burden by donating.

Reviving Full Moon

We will begi—resume this April after Sakura Trick. I want to restrict the project to 2-4 people because having more people complicates things. So far I haven’t talked to our Typesetter Calyrica if she’s interested in typesetting Full Moon and I haven’t really talked to our editor nx0 if he’s interested. I might put a recruitment add if I’m having trouble finding help.

I guess that’s about it. If you got any questions, please feel free to write in the comment section.

Repost: Full Moon DVD Remaster is Alive and Well

Full Moon 01 DVDProject Mangetsu (Yes, I made this up just now) is still alive and well. I refuse to let go of this project and we will finish this no matter what it takes. I will detail everything in the next post (ETA 12-ish hours). For now, please watch our version of episode 01 from one of my all-time favorite shows. Yes, this is better than Aikatsu! and any other idol show. Why? Because I said so!
