Finally, at long last, my new scanner has arrived! And it’s thanks to everyone who helped me acquired the money. ;_;
Again, the model I bought is a Canon CanoScan LiDE 220 and it met my needs for scanlation purposes. I chose this particular model because the price is low and the demo scan turned out great. I immediately did some tests and one of the neat things I discovered is there are no dead zones! In my old Brother MFC-J220 scanner had dead zones so I had to center each page to the glass surface. The drawback for doing that is the pages will not be consistently aligned properly. And the next neat feature of this device is auto-crop!
Other reason I chose this model is because, well, it’s the only good model I could find here. There’s a higher-end scanner that scans films and slides, but I’m only using this for scanlation and I don’t do film scans.
But yeah, thank you very much to all of the donors who helped make this possible, and I can definitely do more and improve our scan quality with this. Speaking of scanning…
I demo’d the scanner using a bookmark freebie/extra we got from one of the Aikatsu!-only events, right? If you wanna look at the quality, here is the post-cleaned scan of the bookmark: Soleil Postcard.
Pretty great, huh?
The scanner will be used to scan our collection like the Sakura Trick manga, Aikatsu! doujinshi and Aikatsu! art books. With the new scanner, we can confidently scan these art books with little compromise and I hope we can share an art book every time we translate something. With that said, we’re only going to share you the art books once we get a capable cleaner. For now, at least there’s assurance you’ll get to see these beautifully drawn art work in the near future.
Thank you again, dear donors, and we will try our best to not disappoint.
